Like many things in our society today, anxiety is seen as a problem and something to be fixed. The approach then becomes to address the symptoms rather than the causes, underlying issues and deeper meaning.This creates a culture of people who end up somewhere between suffering, pushing it away, avoiding it completely or focusing on the superficial ways to “fix” it that only provide bandaid, short term solutions.
When I work with people I make an effort to acknowledge that they are putting themselves in a very vulnerable position. Your home is a direct reflection of your internal states and where you are at. To have a complete stranger come into your home and bare all to them takes courage!
